Review of 'Toy Story 3'

Toy Story 3
Woody, Buzz and all their friends are back in this third installment of the popular Toy Story franchise. Things have turned a bit grim with Andy now grown up and on his way to university with the future of the toys in doubt. Due to a misunderstanding the toys end up being sent to a local day care center full of toys that are lead by "Lotso" a stuffed bear who may not be all he seems. Our friends end up with the younger children who do not care for the toys as much as Andy did...

We were able to see this in 3-D but that did not really add a lot to the experience with only a few elements enhanced by the 3-D environment. The animation, of course, is top-notch as is the writing with the characters brought to life on the screen and, occasionally, bringing a tear to those in the audience (the ending is particularly tense and harrowing even for the adults!). Some of the themes of friendship and jealousy are still present but new to the mix is betrayal and deviousness. Likely a lot of this will be beyond the younger people in the crowd who should still find a lot here to entertain. The ending was particularly poignant and terribly apt. Enjoyable all around.
