Baltimore, Maryland

Introduction

Baltimore Harbour
Baltimore Harbour

Baltimore is a working town – not terribly condusive to tourists though there are a few things worth a visit. Many areas of the town are a bit tough but the core area is well-kept and clean.

Public transit is excellent with an exceptional light rail service provided to key areas of the city.

Attractions

  • Inner Harbour - The harbour has paths around it with various shops (including Hard Rock Cafe and the like) and the aquarium. A number of companies offer boat tours which are quite informative (though tend to be VERY crowded). A good way to experience the area is to simply walk around (perhaps stopping to sample some fresh seafood in a local restaurant).
  • Lexington Market - A great place to experience a true market selling everything from food to clothing and electronics. If you need something quick to eat, this can't be beat.
  • Oriole Park - Recently (re) opened, this is a wonderful baseball stadium built in the true tradition of such venues (with a modern, yet classical design). Go see the Orioles in action…
