Review of 'Rainbow Café'

Found tucked away down a small alley off of King's Parade this small vegetarian café is a popular Cambridge institution. With it's small cozy interior the well-prepared home-style cooking is very welcoming in what could be a dingy cellar.

The Latvian Potato Bake is always popular but on my recent visit I sampled the Gado-Gado which is a stir fry of vegetables on brown rice with a side of peanut sauce. Admittedly, it was the peanut sauce that really convinced me. My companion tried the Pasta Putanesca which was a much more elaborate dish but a bit less tasty though I must admit that both dishes had much more flavour than many people expect of vegetarian.

The menu here cares for pretty much any manner of vegetarianism that you can think of but is all the better for it with a wide range of dish types and flavours on offer including a very good looking dessert menu (which includes some of my favourites including interesting cheese cakes). I will be back to work my way through the rest of the menu…
