Review of 'The Green Man'

Newly refurbished, the food in The Green Man is quite good but the Sunday we visited, despite the restaurant being only just more than half full, the service from the kitchen was such that we were waiting more than an hour for each course. The staff did their best but were at the mercy of the kitchen. My roast pork was a generous portion with the disappointing (small) Yorkshire pudding on the side served with fantastic roast potatoes and jus (along with correctly cooked - slightly crispy - vegetables on the side). My companion's chicken, bacon and spinach pie was also (reportedly) very nice (if a tad hot requiring her to remove the pastry cover to wait for it to cool). The short menu has a number of traditional pub dishes but also a number of more contemporary restaurant fayre such as pasta (interesting looking beef ravioli).

A bit unfortunate The Green Man is right on the busy Trumpington High Street with the busy traffic. Lots of seats outside but I can't imagine they will be very noisy and polluted.
