Serving what, in my opinion, are the greatest burgers in the city. The Fat Boy special is to die for. Eat-in facilities are not provided and I would skip on sitting outside at the lone picnic table if I were you. Be sure to try the fries as well. The burgers are prepared fresh to order and include a wonderful meat sauce smothered over top.

It seems this restaurant is always busy despite being among the largest Dim Sum restaurants in the city. No wonder. The selection of dishes are wheeled around the restaurant and always seem to have something different. Service is not necessarily the best and the décor may not perhaps be the best but the food is definitely first rate. THE place for Dim Sum in Winnipeg. Ok, maybe it is just one of a chain across North America but it does offer a unique dining experience in Winnipeg serving up a wonderful stir- fry cooked on massive cooking surfaces around which you sit with about eight others. If you go for the stir-fry special (by far the best bargain) it is all-you-can-eat of a modest Chinese food buffet and the large assortment of raw meat and vegetables which you mix as you like, adding appropriate spices and sauces, having a chef fry it up for you on a massive griddle. A good sized restaurant run by people from Hong Kong, this is a good approximation of a Chinese snack house serving a good selection of dishes though keep an eye out for the specials (many of which seem to miss the menus). A few years ago, when this restaurant first opened, it was the best place for Dim Sum in Winnipeg, however, in recent years it has bowed to local culinary desires in Chinese food and turned itself into an 'American' Chinese restaurant, offering a far smaller variety of foods and tending towards the deep-fried variety. However, this is still one of the bargains in Dim Sum in Winnipeg and is worth a visit. Orders from Dim Sum are made off of menus.

Review of 'Viva Restaurant'

A rather odd location and even stranger interior don't let this put you off. The menu is unusual but very well executed, the Shrimp & Sour soup is definitely not to be missed (watch out for the peppers!) though the Vietnamese Coffee is also pretty good (if only to watch other people drink it! Think of triple espresso with concentrated milk).

Gondola Pizza is something of a Winnipeg institution having been around since 1964 with various locations now in Winnipeg and elsewhere including Ontario. The location on Pembina Highway is one of the favourites of a friend of mine so we agreed to meet up there for lunch.

Review of 'The Old Spaghetti Factory'

Located in the Johnson Terminal at the forks, “The Old Spaghetti Factory” used to be in the Exchange district where I remember they had a old city street car you could dine in. Times change with their moving to a much larger location at the forks that still serves up basic Italian food in quite large portions. This is a bit of a chain across Canada with restaurants in Manitoba (Winnipeg), Alberta, Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), Ontario (Toronto) and British…

Winnipeg

Someone once told me that there were more restaurants in Winnipeg of any city in the world (per capita). I find that fairly easy to believe with the large number of people cooped up for a large amount of the year they just want to get out and have a good, comforting meal. With most places having prices accessible to everyone there is no excuses not to get out to try some of them. You can have just about any type of food you can imagine here from Japanese to, of course, Polish and Uk…
