Review of 'The Ivy'

A personal favourite

Long since known as the best restaurant in London it well lives up to it's reputation. Though extremely difficult to get reservations (try at least 2-3 weeks in advance, more in the summer months) it is well worth it to sample the varied, yet simple, menu. All dishes are presented well and reasonably priced. One of my all-time favourites (just don't look too hard at the prices).

Review of 'Sarastro Restaurant'

Located on Drury Lane behind the Theatre Royal, Sarastro’s is a great stop for dinner before or after a show. The interior is bizarrely decorated with props from various operas and they even offer some evenings (Sundays and Mondays) where opera performers from the nearby Royal Opera House or the English National Opera perform in the somewhat small restaurant. There are several “boxes” in the restaurant with narrow seating but great views of the interior.…

The quintessential British experience at the famous Simpson's in the Strand. The legend. Does it really live up to the hype? Well, simply, yes, it does indeed. Fair enough, the prices are not exactly low but the quality is absolutely the best. Attached to the Savoy the small rather unimposing entrance on the Strand leads the diner into another world

Review of 'Incognico'

Hidden in the heart of Theatreland you could be forgiven for thinking that Incognico was called “Incognito” instead. The unassuming exterior with floor to ceiling glass windows curtained by chains belies a modern interior with a very good French brassiere-style menu. The best offer is the £25 three course dinner menu which allows you to select the three courses from the standard menu and also includes a glass of champagne (they were more than willing to substitute thi…

Quite a trendy Belgium “moulles frites” (mussels and chips) place just north of Covent Garden. Entering off of the street into the old warehouse you are taken into the basement via an old service lift. The basement is in the undercroft with arches over the tables located at either end of the large, open, kitchen. The interior is all dark colours and metal. All staff are dressed in what is a modern take on monk clothing

We visited the Strand branch of Leon late on a Friday evening and the place was still quite busy. The bright colours and relaxed atmosphere was immediately inviting. One of those restaurants in London that I have always wanted to visit the Savoy Grill was refurbished a few years ago as part of the refurbishment of the Savoy hotel.
