I originally visited Veerasway quite some number of years ago and I had this to say about the experience: “Wonderful mixture of classical and contemporary Indian cuisine in the heart of London. Reasonable prices in stainless-steel and vibrant colour surroundings. Created in 1925 Veeraswamy is a London institution and is visited by many regulars. Under new management.

Review of 'Tiger Tiger'

For many years I have wanted to try Tiger Tiger (just around the corner from Piccadilly Circus) as it always looked quite appealing so I decided to finally give it a go. I visited for the “pre-theatre” menu which is quite a good bargain (two courses for £10). On offer are some very good (yet simple) appetisers which are quite varied (perhaps too much so)

Having read a review of this chicken restaurant I knew we had to try it - Rotisserie free-range chicken cooked traditionally? Absolutely.

The small restaurant is located in something of a back-alley around the corner from Piccadilly Circus that may be overlooked unless you are wandering in the area looking for somewhere to eat

Review of 'Yori'

This tiny little Korean BBQ restaurant sits just off of Piccadilly Circus opposite the venerable “Stock Pot” restaurant. It is actually because of the “Stock Pot” that we visited Yori as the “Stock Pot” (which I have never before visited) turned out to be closed for renovations (for a few months evidently) on the day we wanted to visit so we wandered across the road to try this instead. I have always been a fan of Korean BBQ - It may not always be a taste sensation but it …

I keep passing this place on the bus so finally was able to visit the other day. It is a small place on Lower Regent street that seats possibly 50-60 people. We visited on a Thursday night (late) and it was pretty much jammed. It has been full pretty much every time I see it. It is riding high on the recent craze in London for Japanese noodles

A bit of a surprise, really, we found this latest outlet in the Shawa chain on Haymarket one Friday night when, frankly, every other restaurant in the area was busy. It was a good choice.

The clean, bright interior reveals a tasteful decor with shelves of provisions - jars of preserved vegetables, tins, and dried peppers - along the walls which actually seem to be used. This is basically an up-market takeaway with seat yourself tables and a counter…

Wiltons (est 1742) is a small, elegant restaurant located a short distance from the Ritz, one street south of Piccadilly. It offers fine dining traditional British options focused around seafood and game. Service is wonderful and the interior is warm and welcoming. I visited for an early Christmas dinner the other day with three others. The entire restaurant is quite small seating perhaps 100 at a stretch. We were in a room to the right of the main room which is domi…

I have been visiting “Japan Centre” for many years starting when they were located on south Regent Street then when they moved to Shaftesbury Avenue at Piccadilly Circus and now their current location a short distance away on Panton Street. Much of Japan Center is located underground with only a small space at street level which has previously served small goods including bakery items. In the last week an old-style ramen bar has now opened in thi…

Ever since the “Haidilao Hot Pot” branch opened up in Piccadilly Circus I have always noticed how busy it is with often a queue outside. Located inauspitiously between Five Guys and Bubba Gump on Coventry Street midway between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square you might be forgiven for not even noticing what it was, but you would be missing out.
