Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla

On Saturday, May 6, 2023 the United Kingdom crowned it's new king and queen: King Charles III and Queen Camilla. My wife and I had been debating whether we would fight the London crowds to see the coronation procession live or not but at the last minute decided that it was worth it for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Steve's Guide to Glastonbury Festival

Introduction

Glastonbury is the “largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world”. It is truly huge with about 200,000 people attending for the five days (from Wednesday to Sunday) making it, while it is running, something like the third largest city in the UK. The music acts are, of course, some of the best in the world. All of the main groups from the past 50 years have at one point or another performed here making this one of the…

[Main Entrance]

For Formula 1 one of the biggest names is Silverstone where the British Grand Prix it first hosted back in 1948. As a bit of a fan, I have always wanted to attend the GP and, as I am living in England, thought I would finally buck up the money and attend in 2008 where I had a non-seat ticket to a section then again in 2023 where I splashed out with a grandstand ticket (Club Corner C) opposite the podium, right on the start/finish s…

Introduction

I lived in England for more than three years and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I have had the opportunity to see many new things and meet many new people, but then, that is how it all started...

Why?

People are always curious as to why I would move from Canada to live in England. I have always told them that I wanted to experience something different. I figure that you only have one life and being without any wife and family I am free to do as I wish. Living in …

[Parliament Square]

I was lucky enough to have been able to attend the Olympics in 2010 in London along with my wife and mother. Ever since I moved to England I wanted to live in London and then to live in London when the Olympics came in 2012. I was able to make this dream come true and we were also able to get a large number of tickets by applying in both Canada and England (here with two applications - one from my wife and one from myself - as well!).

Steve's Guide to the Proms

The Proms is truly one of the best classical music festivals in the world. Stretching almost two months and encompasing more than 70 concerts, the Proms are truly a monstrous event.

The Proms are over 100 years old and were begun by Henry Wood and others who believed that classical music should be accessible and enjoyable not just by the elite but by the 'common man'. Now, the Proms are hosted by the BBC and are transmitted via radio every night and by television …
