Driving in Canada

Driving in Canada is a fairly straightforward task though there are a few
things that should be noted.

Rules of the Road: The Basics

All cars drive on the right side of the road with drivers sitting on the
left side. Speed limits are all posted on white signs with black lettering
and are in Kilometers per Hour (KPH; KM/H). Highways will most likely have
a speed limit of any where from 90 to 110 KM/H. In the cities, the limit
is 50 KM/H on most streets.

Canada

Canada is a VERY big place (the second largest country in the world after
Russia) with many diverse cultures and climates. There are essentially
six different types of geography in Canada:

	* Atlantic Provinces - To the far east of Canada this includes the provinces Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and New Brunswick - The climate here is relatively moderate. The landscape tends to be relatively barren of trees but there are many rolling hills (just to the south in the …

Living in Canada

I have to admit that living in Canada for most of my life makes living their
fairly easy for me but, having said that, perhaps the following information may
assist you in living in Canada.

Why?

Canada is a wonderfully diverse country with an, essentially, immigrant
culture contrasted with the large, even still, native population. It is a
country struggling with it's identity and yet happy enough to continue on
as it has for more than 100 years. There are many big cities bu…

I was lucky enough to have been able to attend the Winter Olympics in 2010 in Vancouver along with my (then) fiance and mother. My mother and I had planned this trip for years after vowing after not having gone to the Winter Olympics in Calgary in 1988.

Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island is located just a short distance off the coast of Vancouver. It is reachable by regular ferry service or by a short plane ride from the mainland (both from Vancouver and from Washington state, US).

Victoria is the biggest city on the island and is the capital of British Columbia.
