Review of 'The Road to Mars'

The Road to Mars by Eric Idle

A strangely crafted book told from the standpoint of a person who has discovered the lost essay of a commedic robot telling the story of this robot's and his two human companions trip to Mars…not necessarily of them arriving there, you understand. I found this book fairly hard reading and not exactly “loon vaudeville” as the front quote from Robin Williams attests (one only assumes he does not read other SF or fantasy humour). One might expect more in the way of humour from this member of the Pythons but the reader seems to be left wanting…though there are a few, far between, situations of mild humour.
