Review of 'River of Blue Fire'

River of Blue Fire by Tad Williams
2nd book in the 'Otherland' series

Continuing from where the first book leaves off (even the author admits that the whole Otherland series is basically just one long book) River of Blue Fire follows Renie and !Xabbu as they are separated from the other of their group that are trapped in Otherland. The separate groups journey throughout Otherland moving from place to place following the “river” that flows amongst the various lands. Paul Jonas, introduced in the first novel, finds out more about who he is and what is going on around him while Christabel continues helping the mysterious man on the army base. The machinations of those that have paid for the Otherland network (and those in their employ) are slowly revealed and the beginnings of an understanding of what is going on is made clear. A fantastic “journey” story with believable and sympathetic characters – with an abundance of story to follow. Promises of interesting things to come will keep me reading on…

Rating: “Nearly perfect, but not quite”

Genre: Science Fiction
