Review of 'Mighty Burger Club'

Another stall in the “Crew Market Hall”, “Mighty Burger Club” specializes in…seriously do I need to tell you? They have burgers, dogs, chicken (burgers), veggie (burgers), loaded fries, “mac and cheese”, “chicken wings”, and sides along with a “mini menu” for younger diners. The burgers are described generally as “2 smashed patty burgers (Stuart Palin's butcher mince) served on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and gerkins”. To add fries to the burger, add another £1.50 onto the price. Despite loving hot dogs I had to give their signature dish a try on this my first visit so I opted for “The Fire Monster!” (£11; “Homemade chilli, American-style cheese, buffalo sauce, cajun seasoning, jalapenos & flaming hot Monster Munch”) with a side of Onion Rings (£3) while my companion had “The OG” (£8; “American style cheese, bacon and Mighty Burger sauce”) and a side of fries (£1.50). Soft drinks, natch (£1.50 a tin).

The wait for the burgers to be prepared and delivered to our table was about 5-10 minutes. Very quick. My “Fire Monster” was quite impressive as it towered in the air…

Fire Monster

While my companion's burger looked equally tasty, nice to see the skin-on fries…

The OG

My “Fire Monster” was quite tasty if, of course, a bit awkward to eat. The chilli had a nice heat and was nicely soft, not at all overcooked. Same with the burgers which pretty much fell apart as you at them. The accompanying toppings blended nicely into the flavour with my mouth a bit tingly afterwards but not overly so. My onion rings were OK but not amazing, simply battered and cooked with none of the big hunks of onion with the sweetness and crunchiness I would have liked to have seen.

My companion's “OG” burger was OK if not overwhelming. It could have had more seasoning and sauce but quite tasty. Fries were average but nothing of note.

All in all, a bit underwhelming but still much better than McDonalds. At £26.50 for the two of us I should hope so.
