As you may have guessed I wrote this journal after my journey. Taking a laptop computer with me on this trip would have been a nightmare so I relying on copious notes I had taken at the time and my memory I was able to write this journal in the weeks after I returned. It has turned out a lot longer than I thought but I hope it proves to be helpful.

We had a good time though the transport to and from Bamako turned out to be the biggest problem. Even more so than language which we were generally able to get by on the little French we had amongst ourselves.

Travelling with a few other people had its benefits and it's problems. I thought that Sue and Chris were very nice people before our trip and I wanted to get to know them better during the trip. I did and I think we are on very good terms now (friends, I would suggest?). There were disagreements and problems at times but we were able to get what we want done with few problems. I think we all had a good time and would do it again, given the same situation.

Four weeks was a good amount of time to allow for the time needed to get to and from Bamako (even with the plane) as well as to see Mali in any amount of detail.

We saw a lot of the country and had a good time doing it. What more can you ask?
