Devil's Dyke

Valley Looking North

A short distance from Brighton, the “Devil's Dyke” is a site on the top of the south downs that takes in tremendous views of the surrounding countryside…and has a rather large pub too. This is a stop on the “South Downs Way” path that extends all along the south downs but with the great views, pub and easy accessibility it can be very busy. Though a bit hilly, the walk is clearly marked and quite easy allowing you to take in as much or as little as you wish.

Pub

Parking is available at the pub which I am told is free if you eat at the pub or if you are members of the National Trust otherwise it is a flat fee of £3. There are other small car parks on the way up to the top of the downs that do not charge but, obviously, are even busier.
