Review of 'Thud!'

Thud! by Terry Pratchett
30th book in the 'Discworld' series

The aniversary of Koom Valley is approaching and the dwarfs and trolls of Ankh-Morpork are getting a bit…disruptive. The situation is not helped with the finding of a murdered dwarf in a tunnel under the city. It is up to Vimes and the rest of the City Watch to quell the unrest and solve the murder. Along the way Commander Vimes has to deal with a new recruit (a vampire), an audit of the Watch…and, oh, he absolutely, on no account, can miss his nightly reading of “Where's My Cow?” to his son (complete with impressive sound effects).

Another light read from Pratchett with many of the elements fans have grown to know and love. I found it a bit lacking on the humour side but enjoyable nonetheless with some fairly serious elements thrown in (if a bit heavy-handed in places).
