Review of 'City of God (Cidade de Deus)'

city_of_god.jpg A shocking real-life tale of what is happening in the slums of Rio De Janeiro telling the story of “Rocket” who wants to be a photographer while all around him is the battle between the police and the different drug gangs. The action was just too painful to watch at times with a lot of personal attacks and murders. The characters are real and their surroundings vividly portrayed. The camerawork is interesting with quick cuts and hand-held visuals. A picture that I think everyone should see, it certainly opened my eyes to what is happening there.
