Review of '300'

300.jpg With what promised to be a blood-fest I did not hold up much hope for 300 being as it is an adoption of Frank Miller's graphic novel of the same name telling the story of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C.

I was pleasantly surprised. Ok, there was a lot of blood (and accompanying squishy noises) but it actually DID have a story and followed the story of the last stand of the 300 Spartans in quite better fashion than I expected. The images on the screen are very much true to the graphic novel and the characters are believable if a bit testosterone-laden – but, of course, that is in keeping with the story anyway…I actually enjoyed this more than Sin City but perhaps that is because the story is much more classic and more cohesive than the former.

Don't take your kids to see this movie but have a look if you want to see a very well done “blood and guts” action movie.
