Review of 'Loco Mexicano'

Much better than Desperado's in Islington, Loco Mexicano brings to mind that other restaurant but here in Westbourne Grove. The menu is cartoon-y and chocked full of heavy Mexican dishes as well as a good assortment of drinks. The decor is lively and the staff are friendly.

We started with the obligatory nachos (these with spiced beef served with sour cream and guacamole on the side) which were not bad but surprisingly tasteless (considering the toppings mounded on top this is quite amazing). It was a starter so was quite small and not too expensive (£5.50). I had the Chicken Chimichanga for my main (£9.95) which came with rice, guacamole and a small salad while my companion had the chicken fajita salad (£8.95) which was full of chicken and vegetables (including large pieces of avocado). My Chimichanga was quite good but again a bit tasteless though I did warm to it after a while. Light it was not. Same with my companions salad which she found quite tasty and very fresh.

Satisfactory if not totally amazing, Loco Mexicano is good for a fix of large portion Mexican food. Just wish it had a bit more flavour…Perhaps it is just me?
