Totnes

The small hillside town of Totnes is in Devon on the River Dart a short distance from Brixham and “Paignton”. This market town has a long history dating back to the 10th century.

The high street has a bridge over the river and is quite steep, narrow and lined with small shops often with old style covered pavements in front.

The town hosts a small round castle at the top of the high street, Totnes Castle (operated by English Heritage, entrance charge).

The small Totnes Museum is found in a restored merchant's house on Fore Street.

St. Mary's Church is found midway along the high street near the Totnes Guildhall.
